Golf in Fuerteventura additional courses and Luxury Properties

Golf in Fuerteventura has been on the rise there is no doubt, with additional courses coming online over the past 5 years including the 18 hole courses of Las Salinas and Jandia. These 2 represented the start of the islands' ambition to become a golfing destination in its own right after the initial Caleta course as many golfing tourists look for a minimum of three courses to choose from in each week that they stay. Recent additions however have also benefitted local residents who have taken up the sport either for the first time or have come back to the game as facilities have improved. The Cabildo have been encouraging Canarian youngsters to get involved with lessons available in Las Salinas and golfing societies have grown too with the expat community often leading the way with a variety of open challenges and tournaments.

The Mirador par 3 short amateur course: http://tinyurl.com/yga2yaa, in particular has given residents in the North of the island a convenient 'local spot' ideal for chip shots and bunker practice - 2 skills that will bring any handicap down. Recent reports from the Tamaragua/Shooters golf society say this course has been invaluable in improving play before visiting some of the longer courses further South.

The society has recently played the new Las Playitas course which has just opened its full 18 holes after it was extended from the golf academys' 6. This latest addition has really raised the level for enthusiastic local players as well as those visitors staying in the resort itself. The new residents of Vista Mar: http://tinyurl.com/ycvdtfd are now enjoying not only the new course but also the resort facilities including a fantastic Italian restaurant. Las Playitas resort and the quaint fishing village are literally 5 mins from the luxury apartments in Gran Tarajal offering a diverse landscape for the residents from lush green fairways to rocky cliffs, local sea-front fish eateries to international restaurants, golfing activities to beach and water-sports.

Reflecting Fuerteventuras' variety of facilities as well as its visitors and residents alike are the varied styles of properties available to those seeking out a winter sun home or permanent residence. For the discerning golfer the necessity to be on the course literally is now balanced by the availability of luxury alternatives close by. Wether it is a luxury 3 bedroom 100m2 apartment with on-site 25m long pool and gym facilities plus frontline seaviews as in Vista Mar or a resale 4 bedroom detached villa with over 200m2 of living space, the opportunity is there for the taking. A recent addition is this lovely triplex villa: http://tinyurl.com/y9bfjsv in Las Playitas village bordering the Natural Park literally a 4 min walk to a private beach and just around the corner from the golf course.

It is evident that the Island is growing up both in the type and style of new facilities offered as well as the quality and availability of luxury properties for sale. For more about properties and golf contact info@goldacre-estates.com, www.goldacre-estates.com or call (0034) 928 535044.

Beach Upgrades for Costa Caleta!!

Fuerteventura’s push to improve tourism continues.

Caleta De Fuste has always been a very popular holiday destination on the islands east coast. It’s purpose built nature ensures visitors have the facilities they require and the horseshoe shaped beach is always extremely popular with families.

Even though the beach itself is natural, the sand that makes up the surface was imported several years ago, and being of a finer grade can suffer from wind erosion. For many years the authorities on the island have been asking the Spanish government for funds to improve and extend the beach, after meetings in Madrid it has been agreed that funding of 4.5 million euros has been authorised.Plans that have been approved include completely digging out the beach area by 1.5 meters, removal of the rocks that at present act as a natural barrier, this will increase water flow to the beach and stop the silt deposits building. The beach will then be filled with a white sand of larger grade which will stop it been blown away.Works will also include extension of coastal paths from Cost Antigua around the beach and harbour area and all the way past the Sheraton Hotel to the Atlantico Shopping Centre. This work will not affect the beach areas too much as they will work on half at a time so to allow access for visitors. The ideas for this project will make Caleta de Fuste and the surrounding areas even more popular with the tourist market and property investors.
