New Year Opportunities in the Fuerteventura and Canary Island Property Market

New Year New Opportunities

Welcome to our first newsletter for 2010.

So what’s the story so far this year ?

Predictions on Sterling vs the Euro are targeted by reports from the major currency houses to reach 1.20 ( sometime this year, but no one has put a date yet on when this magical figure will be reached ), I have to say we have had a positive opening and we are currently seeing 1.15 so far this month.

What about Property ?

My view for the market is that we will see a steady increase in sales volumes through 2010, so good news for those that are selling their properties.

There is a lot of talk surrounding the Greek economy and the national debt in the international press right now, I have recently visited our offices in Greece and the local real estate market ( greek residential ) remains buoyant and it is anticipated that 2010 will see a significant rise in the International buyers particularly in areas such as Crete, Corfu and Zakynthos.

Easy jet have just announced a number of new routes to Greece in 2010 with prices starting from only 41 GBP further details can be found on www.easyjet.com

Fuerteventura seems to have resolved the issue of the lack of flights over the winter with Ryanair returning to its services for the Island and Easy Jet now running its regular services to Stanstead and other UK airports, in fact I traveled to Stanstead recently with Easyjet and you could not have found a better flight.

Good luck, happy hunting and wherever your search may you find your DREAM HOME we are there to assist you.

If you have a flight only GoldAcre Estates can assist you in finding your perfect accommodation to stay during your search for your Dream Home.

Please remember any comments that you may have on how we can improve our newsletter are always welcome write to me directly john@goldacre-estates.com

Monarchs New Flights To Fuerteventura, Canary Islands, Prove Popular

Monarch’s Airways new flights to both Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria are proving popular as figures for the October half term are released.
The Fuerteventura flights saw over 2000 passengers during half term and Gran Canaria had over 1500 making a 0.86% increase on the same period last year.
Managing director Liz Savage commented, “Our new services to the Canary Islands of Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria have been very well received and their addition strengthens Monarch’s flying programme to the Cannary islands, with 46 flights per week operating between the UK and the Canaries during winter 2009-10.”
Certainly the Canary Islands residents and property owners have also benefitted from these increased flights and wil help the Spanish property market– local Tui flight ticket providers have just advertised with Goldacre-Estates.com Christmas specials starting from €39!

Canary Islands and Fuerteventura Flights

As we have been reporting in our blogs a whole raft of new flights and increased frequency of existing flights have been announced since our last newsletter. This is great news for all the canary Islands and in Particular for Fuerteventura who lost the Ryan Air flights at the beginning of the year. Below we have tried to sort out which airline has announced new flights recently

Palmair is returning to Exeter airport for the first time in a decade this winter with flights to Fuerteventura, after already announcing flights to the same destination from Bournemouth.

Monarch will be adding two flights a week which will operate from Manchester to Fuerteventura plus weekly services from Birmingham, Gatwick and Luton.
Gran Canaria will be served by two new flights a week from Birmingham and Manchester and a weekly connection from Gatwick. The airline is also stepping up frequency to Tenerife.
The introduction of new services to Fuerteventura and Gran Canaria brings the total number of routes operated by Monarch for summer 2010 to 49.

*New route Fuerteventura - two flights a week from Manchester and one flight a week from Birmingham, Gatwick and Luton
*New route Gran Canaria - two flights a week from Birmingham and Manchester and one flight per week from Gatwick
*Increased frequency: Birmingham-Tenerife - six flights a week
*Increased frequency: Gatwick-Tenerife - seven flights a week
*Increased frequency: Luton-Tenerife - seven flights a week
*Increased frequency: Gatwick-Lanzarote - up to six flights a week
*Increased frequency: Manchester-Lanzarote - up to seven flights a week.

Jet2.com has announced three new routes for the summer of 2010 from Manchester airport to Gran Canaria. The announcement came as Ryanair dislcosed plans to cut routes from the Manchester airport. Jet2.com has also increased the frequency of its summer 2010 services to Lanzarote
Prices for summer 2010 now on sale from Manchester includeGran Canaria from £59.99 departing from 1 May 2010

Easyjet The low cost carrier is to serve Fuerteventura from Liverpool and Stansted and Lanzarote from Liverpool. The new flights start on the 2nd November (Liverpool-Fuerteventura)

RyanAir will be starting 15 new flights into Lanzarote, which is good news for Lanzarote and also for Fuerteventura which is only a 12 minute ferry crossing with Fred Olsen from Lanzarote. The flights will commence from late October from various UK airports and run until the 31st of March 2010 and possibly beyond. A total of 39 new routes will run this winter from three islands. The services will start in October from Gran Canaria (16), Lanzarote (15) and Tenerife (8) as Ryanair switches aircraft away from Stansted and Dublin

Added to this and a Canadian company, Harbour Air Seaplanes have approached the Canarian port authorities in Los Llanos on the island of La Palma and Santa Catalina in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria to seek approval to begin flights between the islands with more services to follow for other islands.

New Flights to Fuerteventura

Much was made of Ryan Airs decision to call a halt to flights to the island and it is still unknown whether this halt will be permanent or not! But of course when one airline decides the time to cut back and lose flights is now…other airlines see this as an opportunity to expand and take advantage of the situation.

Flight operator “Kiss” will be starting a new service to Fuerteventura from Manchester and Gatwick in April this year. The airline announced that the weekly “flight only” service will operate on Wednesdays. For more information visit http://www.kissflights.com/

Jet2 have been adding new destinations and talks are rumoured to be ongoing to open a service from the UK to the island. As the saying goes watch this space http://www.jet2.com/

Easyjet of course are still a low cost airline operating a regular service between the Fuerteventura and the UK albeit via Madrid. Seats can be found for as little as 60 Euros on the 5 flights a week service. Visit for information http://www.easyjet.com/

We also found flights for under 130 Euros using the Spanish national carrier Iberia between London and Fuerteventura again via Madrid. See http://www.iberia.com/

With Thompsons, Thomas Cook and My Travel operating their usual regular service, cheap seats can always be found and travelling between the UK and the island is never difficult. Also remember that regular flights from the UK and Ireland land in Arricife so a short bus journey and ferry crossing will get you to Corralejo. http://www.navieraarmas.com/
